Symbolism
The shield shaped shoulder sleeve insignia refers to the unit’s mission to defend and protect the nation from its enemies or threats. Blue and gold are traditionally associated with the U.S. Army Military Intelligence; red denotes valor and zeal. The globe alludes to the worldwide intelligence of the command. The key is symbolic of authority and control, and signifies security. The lightning bolt suggests worldwide electrical communications, both friendly and hostile. The ravens refer to Huginn and Muninn, two ravens in Norse mythology that fly around the world, Midgard, bringing information to the god Odin. Ravens are also a symbol of wisdom.
Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved 29 July 2022.
