Description
English: ATLANTIC OCEAN (April 24, 2009) Landing craft, air cushion from Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 4 prepare to dock inside the amphibious dock transport ship USS Mesa Verde (LPD-19). Both ACU 4 and the Mesa Verde are participating in the 50th iteration of UNITAS Gold, a two-week multinational exercise meant to foster cooperation and increase interoperability among participating navies. The exercise involves Brazil, U.S., Peru, Mexico, Germany, Canada, Ecuador, Argentina and Chile. The two-week exercise includes realistic scenario-driven training opportunities such as live-fire exercises, shipboard operations, maritime interdiction operations and special warfare.
