A cultural and historical U.S. region, and geographic U.S. territory, along part of the North American coast of the Pacific Ocean. West Coast states always include California, Oregon, and Washington. Alaska and Hawaii only tend to be included in certain contexts, such as federal jurisdiction or Pacific maritime definitions.
