One of the first samples collected at Alderdice, this piece of basalt collected at 162’, was home to 5 species of sponge, one small crab, a colony of pin sized tube worms, some unusual mollusks, and some coralline algae. Image courtesy of S. Bernhardt, NOAA FGBNMS.
