English: Unidentified moth on glass; underside view with moderate back-lighting (daylight); image-set, raw photograph 02 -- location is southern Ontario, Canada, North America; taken on 2012 07 09. as can be seen in the original orientation of some of the images, the moth is resting on a vertical glass surface (double-pane plate/safety glass door). as a VERY rough size-scale estimate, the longest distance across the moth is probably about 1 inch or less; head to tail, wingtip to wingtip (wings positioned as pictured), or diagonally. the moth stayed in approximately the same position non-reactive & "at rest" the entire time, even when the door was opened & closed, but was not dead or incapacitated; it flew off when stimulated by a (deliberate) breath. the photographs were taken in a combination of exterior natural daylight & interior building light (fluorescent tube lighting), no flash was used. |
