English: Jeffrey Stephenson's Unidyne unmistakably resembles the Shure 55 metal microphone made famous by Elvis and other singers in the 1950s and '60s. Rather than metal, Stephenson handmade the body out pieces of wood.
"Instead of taking a large block of wood and cutting it down to the desired shape, I take many small pieces of wood and build them up to the shape I need," he said. "My projects have between 150 and 350 individual pieces of wood in them. Working like this eliminates the need for a workshop."
