Description
Deutsch: University of Virginia: Rotunda mit den Pavillons IX und X, Februar 1823. Die Zeichnung (Tusche, Wasserfarbe, weiße Kreide, mit Tintenrahmen) wurde ursprünglich der Enkelin von Thomas Jefferson zugeschrieben; inzwischen gilt weithin John Neilson, der Baumeister von Thomas Jefferson, in dessen Sammlung das Bild zeitweilig war, als Ersteller. Kunsthistoriker Malcolm Bell hingegen schreibt (laut Garry Wills, 2002: Mr. Jefferson's University. National Geographic. S. 99) die Zeichnung Benjamin Latrobe zu und sieht sie als Hinweis auf dessen große Beteiligung an Thomas Jeffersons Entwürfen für die Universität.
