It was posted in May 1894 to an address in Sandwich, Kent - on the reverse it bears a small Queensland 4 pence stamp and is franked with Queensland and the date. From a little research I have worked out that it is almost certainly Brisbane harbour, with the warehouses of the Australasian United Steam Navigation Company, Charles O'Reilly, S Hoffnung and Webster & Co all clearly visible (in the original, if not this scan). What I couldn't originally tell was which ship it was - she is certainly quite impressive, with both steam and sail power, and guns along the hull. But thanks to [/photos/lifeasdaddy/ BobMeade] this is now thought to almost certainly be HMS Royalist. One of many images that I am slowly importing from my whatsthatpicture.com website.
