Manastir Tvrdoš nalazi se na desnoj obali Trebišnjice u mestu Tvrdoš, 4 kilometra od Trebinja. Manastir je posvećen Uspenju Presvete Bogorodice. Prema narodnom predanju, manastir je podigao car Konstantin i njegova majka Jelena. Pošto je manastir srušen i skoro napušten, srpski kralj Milutin počinje njegovu obnovu, kao svoje zadužbine, krajem XIII ili početkom XIV veka. 1509. godine, potpunu obnovu izvršio je mitropolit Viserion I a 1517. godine dubrovački živopisac Vice Lovrov je oslikao freskama manastir. Manastir je dva veka bio sedište Humsko-Hercegovačke ili kako se tada zvala Trebinjske mitropolije.
