| Description |
Downstream view of cascades and rapids on Rock Run, Loyalsock State Forest, Lycoming County, along the Old Loggers Path. Rock Run forms a magnificent gorge in the Allegheny Plateau before emptying into Lycoming Creek. The stream's large north branch combines with many tributary streams to ensure a substantial volume of water year-round. In and along the stream are glacially carved boulders, cataracts, potholes, and other rock formations. Heavy, relentless rainfall cut short my day-hike of the area. During my brief visit, the rain-swollen stream seemed more like a miniature whitewater river. |
