A positive urease test would result in an increase in pH (alkaline reaction), usually detected by a color change in a pH indicator present in the medium.

Summary

edit
Description
English: Urease is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of urea into ammonia (NH3) and carbon dioxide (CO2). Bacteria that possess urease can use this enzyme to metabolize urea as a source of nitrogen and, as a result, produce ammonia, which raises the pH of the surrounding environment.
