Description
Español: La Universidad del Reyno de Guatemala, fue fundada por Real Cédula emitida por el Rey de España don Carlos II, el 31 de enero de 1676.

Debe citarse como precursores de la misma, el Obispo Francisco Marroquin y don José Crespo Suárez.

El Escudo consta de dos círculos concéntricos, en medio de los cuales se lee "CAROLINA ACADEMIA COACTEMALENSIS INTER CAETERAS ORBIS CONSPICUA", cuya traducción sería: UNIVERSIDAD DE GUATEMALA GRANDE ENTRE LAS DEL MUNDO".
