Deutsch: Prinzenpalais in Usingen, ehemaliges Landratsamt des Kreises Usingen. 1768 erwarb Friedrich August von Nassau-Usingen den Freihof am Usinger Obertor. In seinem Auftrag baute der Baumeister Johann Wilhelm Faber aus Biebrich bei Wiesbaden das Palais, das Friedrich August als Prinz mit Ehefrau und Kindern bewohnte. Von Johann Wilhelm Faber stammt auch der bemerkenswerte Frontispiz, das schöne Portal, die leider später verlorene Freitreppe, sowie die Rokokogitter an Treppe und Balkon. Faber war der Nachfolger des nassau-saarbrückischem Generalbaudirektor Friedrich Joachim Stengel. Von Stengel übernahm Faber auch 1771 die Bauleitung der evangelischen Kirche von Jugenheim. Nachdem Friedrich August, dank Napoleon 1803 Fürst geworden war, wechselte er seinen Wohnsitz in das Biebricher Schloss. Das Prinzenpalais wurde an den Posthalter und Weinhändler Graf aus Birstein verkauft. |
