English: The Utica State Office Building, 207 Genesee Street at Blandina Street, as seen on an August 2021 afternoon. With a simple, angular design of regular rows and columns of narrow windows deeply recessed into a smooth-textured façade of concrete panels, this 17-story building, the tallest in the city, is an exemplar of the Brutalist style of architecture that was in fashion at the time of its construction, especially for government and institutional buildings such as this. The building was designed in 1967 by the Syracuse-based firm of Pederson, Hueber, Hares & Glavin, and construction was completed five years later.
