Description

Vickers VC-10 K2 tanker ZA150 from 101 Squadron, Brize Norton taxies past the sound caravan. It had previously been 5H-MOG with East African Airways. On 20 September 2013 ZA150 and ZA147 of 101 Squadron made a final formation flypast from Brize Norton around the UK and the type was then retired after 47 years service. ZA147 performed the very last flight on 25 September to Bruntingthorpe for scrapping. ZA150 was the last VC-10 built (for East African Airways in 1970). It flew to Dunsfold on 24 September 2013 for preservation by the Brooklands Museum. In 2020 it was acquired by GJD Services on behalf of Kepler Aerospace, Texas, who intended to make it airworthy again and fly it in the USA in connection with their satellite and aviation technology programs.
