Notes
  • Significance: The bridge on South Carolina Route 39, identified as Saluda 1 in the South Carolina Department of Highways and Public Transportation's Metal Truss Highway Bridge Inventory, is one of 148 metal truss bridges remaining in South Carolina. It is one of seven structures having a Warren through truss design with polygonal upper chord. Its significance is derived from the architectural design and integrity of the structure, in addition to being situated near Chappells ferry, an important ferry crossing in the early 1800s. It was determined eligible for listing in the National Register on November 26, 1982.
  • Survey number: HAER SC-21
  • Building/structure dates: 1930 Initial Construction
