Description

English: Historiated initial "V" and depiction of the prophet Isaiah with halo, pointing his finger at the Virgin and holding the scroll on which his vision is written in Latin. Two verses of the Book of Isaiah can be read on:

-Egredietur virga de radice Jesse et flos de radice ejus ascendet et requiescet super eum Spiritus Domini: "A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him" (Book of Isaiah, 11: 1-2).

-Ecce virgo concipiet et pariet filium: "Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son" (Book of Isaiah, 7: 14).
