Español: El Paisaje Protegido Valle del Lunarejo se encuentra en el extremo noroeste del departamento de Rivera, muy próximo a Artigas y Salto y del límite contestado con Brasil. Se ubica en la parte norte del sistema de la Cuchilla de Haedo, que cumple una función de corredor biológico para el ingreso de especies subtropicales de flora y fauna del sur de Brasil hacia el territorio uruguayo. Es un área representativa de las Quebradas del Norte o de la Cuesta Basáltica, una región que se destaca por un paisaje de gran belleza, con elementos escénicos únicos en el país, caracterizado por cerros con cimas aplanadas que delimitan estrechos valles modelados por los cursos de agua conocidos como "quebradas". Las quebradas son profundas incisiones entalladas en la roca basáltica, de importantes pendientes y relieve enérgico, donde confluyen cuevas, paredones verticales y saltos de agua y se desarrolla una exuberante vegetación de tipo selvática subtropical.

El Paisaje Protegido Valle del Lunarejo ingresó al Sistema Nacional de Áreas Protegidas a fines de 2009. Incluye 29.286 hectáreas de propiedad privada y del Instituto Nacional de Colonización, que desde el año 2001 contaban con protección a nivel departamental. A fines de 2009 se firmó un convenio entre el MVOTMA y la Intendencia Departamental de Rivera para llevar adelante de forma coordinada las primeras acciones de gestión del área, incluyendo la elaboración del plan de manejo.
