English: Valetta founded in 1566 is Malta’s capital city and the southern smallest capital city of the European Union was built by the Knights of Malta led by Jean Parisot de Valetta. Based on then modern grid system of streets to make it easier to defend.
The city is noted for its fortifications consisting of bastions curtains and cavaliers along with the beauty of Baroque Palaces, gardens, churches and government buildings. This capital has some of Europe most amazing medieval relics from the great Fort St Elmo to the gold glimmering Co Cathedral of St. John, that hosts the work of Caravaggio. Standing on a peninsula between the Marsamxett Harbour and the grand harbour. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has a history dating back to 1566....surviving and tells stories of the Knights. The British be good and the German invasion attempts during WW11 |
