Peter Kruse, the sender of this postal cover, was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, on February 9, 1864, the son of Hans and Magdalena (Langemack) Kruse. Peter married a woman named Anna. He died on January 17, 1932, at Valparaiso, Porter County, Indiana, and was interred in that community's Graceland Cemetery.

Mary Greggers, the recipient of this postal cover, was born n Unionville, Putnam County, Missouri, on December 17, 1867, the daughter of Peter and Elsebe Catherina (Joens) Greggers. Mary was employed as a cashier and bookkeeper in a Unionville hardware store and never married. She passed away in Unionville on October 31, 1954, and was interred in the Lemonville Cemetery in Lemons, Putnam County, Missouri.

The enclosed letter, which can be viewed here, is signed "Your Uncle Peter Kruse." Research, however, has made it unclear as to the relationship between Peter and Mary.
