DescriptionVanuatu Funeral Crying.webm |
English: In Vanuatu, when a person dies the whole community comes together to grieve for the loss. From the time the person dies till the time they are buried, they are cried over in shifts. The immediate family stays most of the time with other villages and family units going in to cry in turns. This video is the body being brought out of the kitchen to be taken down to the grave. You can hear the hair-raising grief in the video, in person you can feel the emotion in the air. It is an INTENSE experience. |
