English: Vauxhall Bridge over the Avon New Cut, Bristol When first constructed, in the nineteenth century, this used to swing to allow the passage of commercial shipping up and down the Cut. Nowadays, it is solely a fixed footbridge connecting Southville with the housing development at Baltic Wharf. It could not swing if it wanted to: an oil supply pipe runs along its length. |
