English: Vayu

Stone, Central India 10th Century AD The sculpture shows Vayu, Vedic god of wind. He is the directional guardian of the northwest quarter of the universe, one of the set of eight such guardians. The figure wears armlets, a necklace and a vanmala. There is a presence of a small dear (his vahana) near his left foot.
