Summary edit

Description
English: Vedibhadra is a type of upapitha described in Hindu shilpasastra / vastusastra texts on architecture. See, e.g., the four varieties of Vedibhadra in chapter 13, section 24 of Mansara. They are recommended in certain geometric ratios for aesthetics and function. They are found in pillars of Hindu and Jain temples. The ideas apply to all columns or posts elsewhere.
