Summary edit

Description
English: The ornate VEERANARAYANA TEMPLE with its ’Trikutachala’ (three shrined) structure, dedicated to Veeranarayana was built around 1200 CE by King Veera Ballala II of Hoysala Empire. This temple is known for its architecture, beautiful bell shaped pillars and elegant elephants.

The entrance to the temple is majestic and two carved elephants on either side of the gateway welcomes us. When we leave the front Mandapa with sloped roof and enter into the temple, again a pair of elephants greet us. Walking few steps to get into the temple, again two Elephants at the ‘Dwara’, welcome majestically. All these elephants were exquisitely sculpted and appear more realistic with rich ornamentations.

We were not surprised on that we were the lone vistors in the temple with its silent and serene atmosphere.
