Description

One of the key attractions at the Louvre, ranking up there with Mona Lisa.

Her name is due to the statue being found on the Greek island of Milos. That actually makes her an Aphrodite, rather than Venus, who is Aphrodite's Roman counterpart.

The statue is carved from two blocks of marble - one above the pelvis and one below.
