Description Marie Goold nee Giraudin. She was the wife of Vere Thomas St Leger Goold (1853–1909), an Irish-born descendant of the Goold Baronets, a tennis player, and a convicted accessory to murder, who was incarcerated on Devil's Island, and died there. This image shows her in 1907, after their imprisonment in Monaco. Marie died in prison of typhoid in 1914.
