edit
Description The entrance hatch (glazed for the purpose of display) of the Vickers Valiant B1 at the RAF Museum, Cosford, Shropshire, 8 July 2020. A Valiant dropped Britain's first atomic bomb in 1956 and the particular aircraft preserved at Cosford dropped Britain's first hydrogen bomb in 1957; it also undertook the last Valiant bomber sortie on 9 December 1964. Valiants equipped 10 squadrons. The only time Valiants saw combat was in the Suez War of 1956 when Valiants based on Malta made conventional bombing raids on Egyptian airfields, transport hubs and communications centres.
