Summary edit

Description
English: Victorian notice board in the south porch of St Mary's Church, Bentley, Hampshire. Damaged portions of a notice sheet dated 1925, under which part of a notice sheet dated 1891 (on the top right) is exposed. The 1925 sheet mostly concerns elections for Rural District Councils in Hampshire. The 1891 sheet lists the Inland Revenue duties payable on Male Servants (15 shillings each), Hackney Carriages (15 shillings each), carriages with four or more wheels which are drawn by two or more horses/mules or which are propelled by mechanical power (£2 and 2 shillings each), carriages with four or more wheels which are drawn by a single horse/mule (£1 and 1 shilling each), carriages with less than four wheels (15 shillings each), Armorial Bearings painted or affixed on a carriage (£2 and 2 shillings), Armorial Bearings otherwise worn or used (£1 and 1 shilling). The 1891 notice also has a very partial notice regarding dog and gun licenses, which mentions that the penalty for keeping a dog without a license is £5.
