Description

Archives du Musée McCord / Henry Richard S. Bunnett (1845-1910).

Secteur de Place Jacques-Cartier. Maison Nicolas Daneau de Muy / Constuction: 1703. Voisine, à l'Ouest du Château Ramezay.

Acquise en 1805 par James McGill, fondateur de l'Université McGill. Démolie en 1903 pour l'aménagement du marché qui se tenait en ces lieux. Maison de pierre aux larges souches de cheminées, d'inspiration bretonne. Typique de ce qui se construisait à Montréal et ses environs aux XVIIè, XVIIIè et même encore au début du XIXè siècle.

L'artiste Henry R.S. Bunnett se plaisait à reconstituer les bâtiments de l'Ancien Montréal qui à l'époque étaient déjà altérés, modifiés ou carrément disparus. Celle-ci nous est montrée probablement dans sa version d'origine.
