English: View east along Bretton Country Park lower lake The lakes at Bretton are not natural and were created by damming the River Dearne at several places. According to the Wakefield Council website,
`Beautiful 18th Century landscaped grounds was originally landscaped in the style of Capability Brown, and included the planting of thousands of imported exotic trees, to the modeling of hills and valleys and the use of water and architectural features.' The light was simply amazing as we crossed the bridge. Fifteen minutes later and it was gone. |
