English: View over disused rifle range in the west of Merthyr Mawr Warren A view from the dune Cog-y-brain over the older and more northerly of two adjacent and long-disused rifle ranges in the west of Merthyr Mawr Warren. Some of the positions from which firing occurred at the range can be made out in the photograph, appearing as slightly raised strips of ground running left to right across the picture at various distances from the camera. The elevated square of grass seen beyond these positions is a recreational area and is unrelated to the rifle range. The targets at which firing was directed on the range lay more or less at the base of the dune from which the photograph was taken.
