Vila din Mamaia a fost construită ca reşedinţa de vară pentru Regele Ferdinand și Regina Maria. După decesul Regelui Ferdinand (iulie 1927) Regina Maria a donat vila Reginei Elena, care a deținut-o până în 1930.

Din 1930 vila a aparținut Regelui Carol al II-lea, iar fiul său, viitorul Rege Mihai I şi-a petrecut aici vacanţele de vară în perioada 1927-1932.

În 1932 Regele Carol al II-lea a vândut vila regală din Mamaia (și terenul aferent) Flotilei Aerului (Ministerul Aviaţiei)[1].

În 1948 Vila a fost confiscată de comuniști și trecută în proprietatea statului român.

În Mamaia se putea ajunge cu trenul care pleca din gara aflată lângă reședința regală[2]din Constanța (azi Tribunal).

Calea ferată Constanța-Mamaia a fost operațională din 1905[3] până în 1960[4] [5], numai în sezonul de vară, pentru transportul turiştilor. [6]. Marea parte a traseului căii ferate se afla pe actualul amplasament al Bulevardului Mamaia.
