Summary edit

Description

F5us
Fridericus Quintus : Frederik 5.
SAWB
Silkeborg Amts Wild Bane
ANO 1757
Anno 1757

Fundamentet under stenen viser stenen oprindelige form.

English: A so-called "vildtbanesten" located at Christianshede Church, Denmark used for marking an area for hunting by the king in Denmark.

Such areas were defined beginning in 1559. Originally, oak pillars were used for the purpose, but in 1733 these were deteriorating. In 1742 the King gave permission for a replacement using stone pillars instead. These stones are produced in the periods 1743-44 and 1756-62. Meanwhile, Frederick V of Denmark ascended to king of Denmark-Norway in 1746. This stone has been made in Sdr Vissing and Addit in 1757, and was transported from Sdr Vissing in 1759. The text on the stone says

F5us
Fridericus Quintus : Frederick V of Denmark
