The barque started life as the Pass of Leny of 1,315 tons, built in 1885 at the London & Glasgow Engineering & Iron Shipbuilding Co. in Govan (Yard no. 250) for Gibson & Clark of Glasgow. In 1909 she was sold to Prospero Schiaffino of Genova and became the Minerva. In 1916 she had a short spell in Norway as the Edor, owned by H. T. Realfsen. Later in 1916 she was sold to Johann A. Asmussen of Copenhagen and became the Holdana. She served until December 1923, when she was sold for breaking up in Germany, carried out in the first months of 1924.
