Una panoramica e scenografica oasi verde (2 ettari) in pieno centro, dove nel XVI secolo sorgeva il baluardo di Santa Caterina, parte integrante della cinta difensiva della città. Decaduta la funzione militare, l'area fu ceduta nel 1785 in concessione a Ippolito Durazzo, che vi impiantò un orto botanico. Il marchese Gian Carlo Di Negro acquistò successivamente il terreno nel 1802 e fondò qui una scuola di botanica. Di Negro realizzò il parco, dove alla collezione botanica costui aggiunse una collezione di reperti dell'antichità classica, alternata a busti di genovesi illustri. Nel 1863, in seguito alla scomparsa del marchese avvenuta nel 1857, il Comune acquistò il parco e la villa, apportando a più riprese diverse modifiche: tra il 1863 e il 1892 vennero realizzate le grotte, la scenografica cascata e la "casa del giardiniere" posta a fianco della cascata. Quest’ultima venne realizzata attraverso la demolizione dell'orecchione orientale del bastione delle mura del Cinquecento. Nel 1942, durante la seconda Guerra Mondiale, l'edificio venne colpito dai bombardamenti navali degli alleati contro la città e distrutto. Nel 1948 il comune finanziò la ricostruzione dell'edificio con la forma attuale. Attualmente la Villa è sede del Museo d’arte Orientale Chiossone nell'edificio dall'architettura razionalista progettato nel 1953 da Mario Labò. Si segnalano quali particolarità botaniche due platani monumentali risalenti alla fondazione del parco e tre sequoie poste a dimora intorno al 1870.
