| Description | Ambassador Shapiro brought messages of solidarity and best wishes for the New Year in his visit to Sderot on September 13. In a city known for its resiliency in the face of rocket attacks from Gaza, Ambassador Shapiro commended the ingenuity and social conscience of its students in his visits to Sapir College and the Hesder Yeshiva. He also shared apples and honey (a New Year's tradition) with Mayor David Buskila in a fortified playground built by the JNF-USA, one of the many symbols of collaboration between the American people and Sderot.
