Ambassador Shapiro visits the Tefen and Lavon Industrial Parks and the company ISCAR with Mr. Stef Wertheimer On December 12 the Ambassador, along with Economic Counselor Robert Forden and Sr. Commercial Attaché Jonathan Heimer, visited Tefen, Israel to learn more about the life and work of Mr. Stef Wertheimer and his company ISCAR, bought in 2006 by Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway. Mr. Wertheimer also led the Ambassador on a tour of his industrial parks in Tefen and Lavon and described his ideas for peace and coexistence through economic development and job creation. Mr. Wertheimer’s industrial parks (six total in Israel with a new one under construction in Nazareth) aim to provide an atmosphere of inclusion and equal opportunity for both Arabs and Jews. The industrial parks are modern and organized to provide training facilities, restaurants, museums, and a nurturing environment for resident companies and employees. The Ambassador was treated to tours of several of the companies at the industrial parks including modern manufacturing facilities and Safta Gamila, a maker of all natural soaps. The tour also included several museums and educational facilities for children at the Tefen Industrial Park. |
