Description
Español: La Villa de Agüimes actual fue fundada en 1491 como villa bajo señorío episcopal por orden de los Reyes Católicos, y otorgado a la Iglesia como compensación por la colaboración de ésta durante la conquista.

La Parroquia de San Sebastian comienza su construcción según los planos del arquitecto Diego Nicolás Eduardo de 1787 y fue construida en tres fases: la primera de 1796 a 1837; la segunda de 1876 a 1888 y la tercera de 1920 a 1940. Es bendecida en 30 de diciembre de 1888, celebrándose oficialmente la primera eucaristía.

En su interior se observan variedad de estilos: Gótico, Neoclásico y Barroco, siendo éste último el de mayor presencia.

La edificación se trata de una Iglesia de planta basilical de tres naves con bóveda de medio cañón. En el Crucero, sobre arcos torales y pechinas, se levanta el cimborrio con un tambor de doce ventanales que simbolizan a los doce Apóstoles y que sostiene la cúpula, coronada por una linterna.

En el altar mayor está ubicada la imagen de Nuestra Señora del Rosario, imagen construida según la técnica sevillana del siglo XVII y que fue regalada por el sacerdote de Agüimes Juan Fernández Vélez, deán de Oaxaca (México).
English: The current Agüimes Villa was founded in 1491 as a village under episcopal manor by order of the Catholic Monarchs, and given to the Church as compensation for its collaboration during the conquest.

The Parish of San Sebastian begins construction plans by the architect Diego Nicholas Eduardo, 1787 and was constructed in three phases: the first from 1796 to 1837 the second from 1876 to 1888 and the third from 1920 to 1940 he is blessed in December 30, 1888, officially celebrated the first Eucharist.

Styles seen Inside: Gothic, Neo-Classical and Baroque, being the last one the most remarkable.

The building have a plane basilical with three naves with barrel vault. The Cruise on torales and pendentives arches, the dome has a drum with twelve windows that symbolize the twelve Apostles and holding the dome, crowned by a lantern.

On the main altar is located the statue of Our Lady of the Rosary, it is built according to the Seville technique seventeenth century and was given by the priest Juan Fernández Agüimes Vélez, dean of Oaxaca (Mexico)
