Description
Nederlands: De amerikaan Richard Buckminster Fuller ontwierp een geodetische koepel als accommodatie. Aluminiumbuizen dienen als een geraamte, ze zijn met elkaar verbonden door een steeksysteem, waardoor de koepel snel kan worden op- en afgebouwd. Het geheeld werd overtrokken door een doek. Op deze constructiemethode werd in de VS een patent genomen in 1954. De Dome op de Vitra Campus werd in 1975 gemaakt in samenwerking met Thomas C. Howard van Charter Industries. In 2000 werd de Dome gekocht door Rolf Fehlbaum en de Dome kreeg nog dat jaar een plek in Wheil am Rhein.
