| Description | The highway from Osorno (the city) to Las Cascadas has a nearly continuous but ever-changing spectacular view of this lovely volcano. As a fellow cyclist said later this same day, this area around Lago Llanquihue ("Yankee Way") has among the finest cycling either of us has ever had the good fortune to enjoy. Excellent roads, gentle hills, fabulous views, low traffic, friendly folks, tons of B&Bs and beaches and camping, lots of cyclists (no surprise there!) and bicycle-friendly towns. It's something like 150 km circumference by road around the lake. But take a few days to finish it, if you can at all afford the extra time. |
