Description
English: WILLIAM GUNNELL HOUSE IN GREAT FALLS; THE ORIGINAL STRUCTURE DATES TO 1750 AND WAS PART OF LORD FAIRFAX’S GREAT FALLS MANOR ESTATE; IT WAS SOLD TO WILLIAM GUNNELL IN 1791 AND REMAINED IN THE GUNNEL FAMILY UNTIL 1963. THIS HOUSE SHOULD NOT CONFUSED WITH A HOUSE OF THE SAME NAME IN FAIRFAX TOWN WHICH IS THE SCENE OF A FAMOUS JOHN MOSBY ESCAPADE. IT IS ALL THE SAME FAMILY AND IT COULD BE THE SAME WILLIAM GUNNEL OWNING BOTH HOUSES
