WIPO Director General Daren Tang visited on March 21, 2022, Cybernetic Park in Santo Domingo and took part in a demonstration of work using virtual reality by a group of students. On the first day of an official visit to the <a href="https://www.wipo.int/members/en/details.jsp?country_id=49" rel="noreferrer nofollow">Dominican Republic</a>, Mr. Tang met young innovators and pledged WIPO’s support to help in using the tools of the intellectual property (IP) system to take the Park’s innovations to the market in the Dominican Republic and abroad. Billing itself as the Caribbean "Silicon Valley," Cybernetic Park is a public-private partnership devoted to the development of talent, innovation and creativity to boost the country's economy and propel the Dominican Republic into world markets. Founding President Eddy Martínez said some 7,000 students follow curricula through a blended learning and project-based model. In addition, the Park hosts a large number of innovative companies in various fields of technology including additive manufacturing and the biosciences.
