Description
English: Photo of prisoners of war in worn-out uniforms during World War II in German-occupied Norway 1940–1945, in a German prisoner or labor camp, possibly a Nazi concentration camp in Alta, Finnmark. They are receiving food, likely soup, from large pots. The prisoners are probably Eastern European POWs, forced into slave labor in Northern Norway. Soldiers of the Wehrmacht, the military forces of Nazi Germany, are guarding the prisoners.

The paper photograph is marked on the back with writing in hand with the German inscription Essenfassen der Gefangenen, which translates to "Food distribution to the prisoners."

The photograph is copied from the collections of the Museum of Reconstruction for Finnmark and North Troms (Norwegian: Gjenreisningsmuseet) in Alta i Finnmark, a World War II memorial museum as part of the Museene for kystkultur og gjenreisning i Finnmark IKS. The image is published under the license "public domain," indicating it is an intellectual property without copyright.
