Description
English: Hayagriva Madhava is a Buddhist-Hindu temple located in Hajo , Kamrup Assam. This temple reflects many historical stories on its wall. Koch king Raghudeva rebuilt this temple. The architects of his time showed their expertise by making different sculptures related to Mahabharata , Ramayana. Everyone single stone carving tells us a story of the ancient times. The first sculpture on this wall is the portrait of Brihannala and Uttarā from Mahabharata. On the base, a row of sculptures of elephants can be seen. Elephants has a very prominent place in the history of Assam.
