Description

"Singing Sniper: To break the boredom and case the loneliness that comes with the job of sniper scout Private First Class Walter A. McCarty (Hanford, Connecticut), composes and sings his own songs. ‘Al,’ as his buddies call him, hopes to sing professionally when his tour with the Marines is over. At present McCarty is participating in Operation Taylor Common with the 3d Marine Regiment in the mountains west of An Hoa (official USMC photo by Staff Sergeant Bob Jordan)."
