Description
English: Built in 1935, this Classical Revival-style building was designed by Lafaye and Lafaye to serve as a memorial to University of South Carolina students who died in World War I. The building is clad in limestone with a raised portico on the front facade with fluted doric columns and a pediment, decorative stone screens at the windows on the first floor, doric pilasters flanking the bays on the second floor, one-story wings on either side of the main wing of the structure, a decorative trim surround at the bronze front entrance door, and two bronze lantern-style light fixtures on either side of the front steps. The building is a contributing structure in the Old Campus District, University of South Carolina Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.
