Summary
editDescriptionWarden Gorge in highish water - geograph.org.uk - 1231088.jpg |
English: Warden Gorge in highish water The North Tyne is a classic whitewater trip, particularly popular as part of the annual Tyne Tour, when Warden Gorge can be crowded with both canoeists and rescuers. As many student paddlers' first taste of grade 3 water, it sees more than its share of swimmers, and, like any named rapid, has an aura of difficulty about it which is probably not entirely justified. However, in high water, its big waves and overall length can make it an intimidating place at first encounter. Here, Claire Taylor is running through some of the bigger waves on a Swaledale Outdoor Club trip in water just a bit higher than "a nice level". |
