Postcard of Wardown House, a mansion designed for Frank Chapman Scargill (1836–1919) in Bramingham, Luton, by architect Thomas Charles Sorby (d.1924). It is now Wardown Park Museum, Luton. The building was completed in 1877. The back of this postcard contains an extract from the then prime minister Winston Churchill's speech of 11 September 1940: "This is a time for everyone to stand together, and stand firm". A full attempt has been made to discover the identity of the photographer, via internet, books, libraries, archives, magazines etc., but none has been found. |
