Photo #1 is a head shot of Warner Baxter (3/29/1892-5/7/1951) in costume as Cisco Kid from the movie "In Old Arizona." Warner won an academy award for Best Actor in 1930 for his role in "In Old Arizona." Photo #2 is of Warner in "The Coward" where he played Clinton Philbrook. Warner was born in Columbus. He was a typewriter salesman who joined a summer stock theater in 1908. Warner made his first film in 1914 and by the end of his career he had performed in 130 motion pictures. "Kidnapped" and "42nd Street" were among his most famous films. By 1936 he was the highest paid actor in America. |
